The Alignment Gaps by Leader Area Analytics helps leaders see the big picture of where alignment breakdowns are taking shape in the organization in a single view. The view is designed to help you:
- Discover areas of misalignment and non-alignment in how OKRs have taken shape across the organization
- Identify gaps in understanding of the strategy and get the detail in one click
- Get visibility into resource allocation around strategic OKRs and where silos are forming
- Improve on your alignment from the previous quarter
How to Leverage the Alignment Gaps by Leader Area View
We recommend you use this view early in your quarter cycle. By the 2nd or 3rd week into the quarter, as most teams have entered and aligned their OKRs, you should be able to see where alignment pockets are forming.
The network is made up of red, blue, and gray nodes. Each node represents a single objective.
- The red nodes signify top level objectives (L1 leaders* objectives)
- The blue nodes signify aligned objectives (e.g. objectives with at least one alignment or dependencies on other objectives)
- The gray nodes signify unaligned objectives (e.g. objectives with no alignment or dependencies on other objectives)
- The size of the node signifies how many objectives are aligned to it. The larger a node, the more objectives align up to it.
Leaders can use this view to see:
- How aligned the objectives are in their organization, and where the centers of gravity exist: This is represented by a cluster of blue nodes connected to a red node.
- How mis-aligned the objectives are in their organization. This is represented by a cluster of blue nodes connected together but not connected to any red nodes.
- How unaligned the objectives are in the organization. This is represented by single gray nodes.
For more details on aligned or misaligned objectives, you can click on any node to filter the Objective table at the bottom of the page to get more information about that specific node.
The objective alignment view also contains a table with a list of the objectives in the network graph, the objective alignment status, team name, team owner, target OKR ID, and OKR ID.
Alignment Gaps by Leader Area Filters
Filters allow you to further narrow the data you'd like to view:
L2 Leader to focus on selected leader
- Select an L3 Leader after an L2 Leader is selected
- OKR Timeframe of Annual / Quarterly to focus on selected timeframe
- Alignment Status to focus on alignment opportunities
- Unknown - Objectives that belong to users who are no longer part of the organization and have not been re-assigned yet
Alignment Drill Down View
To see the Alignment Drill Down view, click Explore Detail at the bottom right of the OKR alignment network page. The alignment breakdown view highlights the number of objectives that are aligned or unaligned, broken down by L2 or L3 leader. Overall Org Alignment and Alignment types are also available in this view.
Please note that the drill down view for L3 leaders is based upon user hierarchy in the platform and not per team hierarchy.
How to Leverage the Alignment Drill Down View
Similar to the OKR alignment view, we recommend you use the alignment drill down view after the third week into the quarter, when most teams should have finished entering their OKRs in the platform.
To the left of the alignment view is a half-donut chart and a horizontal bar chart broken down by L2 leader. Both charts show the total number of aligned versus unaligned objectives. To the left, is a table of objectives, L2 leader, the objective alignment status, team name, team owner, and OKR ID.
For more details on the level of alignment within each L2 leader’s team, click on each bar or use the filter at the top right part of the view. To return to the OKR alignment network view, click the arrow at the top left of the page.
To drill down by L3 Leader, select the L2 on the bar graph for the data that you'd like to see, then click Go to L3 in the upper right-hand corner.

To activate this report, visit our help article on Activating Analytics.
Important to note: This particular report is aggregating all objectives across your organization. We suggest that you only make the report available to individuals who should be able to see this information org-wide.
Things to Note
- The top level (L1 leaders) objectives are the root teams’ objectives
- The analytics views only show the current Team OKRs
- Scope of OKRs includes all OKRs from current Quarter, Fiscal Year (as defined in system) or custom timeframe
