Overview
The Salesforce data connector for WorkBoard allows you to pull data directly from Salesforce Reports to update the progress of a Key Result. Key Result in WorkBoard will be updated on the next data pull specified by the update cadence.
Requirements
- The IT admin for your organization may need to approve the connector for the first time if the App is configured to require approval.
- If the Salesforce Admin needs to provide a one-time approval for the WorkBoard app, the admin can do so directly through Salesforce by selecting Home > Connected Apps > Connected Apps OAuth Usage > Install.

Can data be pulled from report subgroups?
Yes.
Add a Salesforce Key Result
- Hover over your Objective and choose the Kebab.
- Select Edit Settings.
- Select Add another Key Result.
- Select Advanced Options.
- Choose Pull results data from KPI Catalogue or Integration.
- Pick Salesforce from the list of integrations and login using your Salesforce Credentials.
- Log in to Salesforce.
- Note:You must use your password + your Salesforce security token without any spaces between. For directions on locating your Salesforce user security token, please visit the Salesforce Help Center.
- Note: If you already logged into Salesforce by going to your Preferences>Integrations>and clicking on Enable, then you will not have to login again.
- Click on the Report dropdown to select a Report.
- Note:The Report dropdown will ONLY display Reports you've Viewed.

- Choose a Field from the dropdown.
- Note:Sub-groups are also available to select.
- The Verify Data Source button pulls data from the selected Salesforce report and field in real-time; this allows you to cross reference with the data in the Salesforce Report to make sure that you've mapped the right data field to the KR.
- Select Connect.
- Fill out the remaining Key Result details such as Starting Value, Result Value, Target Value, Committed Result, Unit of Measurement and how toCalculate Overall Progress.
- Choose the Update Cadence, which determines when or how often WorkBoard will ping Salesforce for the latest value for your Key Result.
- Note: Update cadence has the same options you would find for Key Results updated by a person. I.e. Daily, Weekly (on a particular day), Monthly, and Quarterly.

- Select Save.
Synchronize Data from Salesforce
WorkBoard will pull data for the KR directly from Salesforce at the cadence specified when creating the Key Result. The Business Result Owner also has the ability to sync data now to pull data in real-time, typically helpful at the end of the Objective time-period.
There are two ways to sync data for your Key Results.
Force a Sync on a Single Salesforce Key Result:
- Click on the Key Result to go to the Key Results Details page.
- Click on the Kebab menu in the upper right-hand corner.
- Select Sync Integration Data.
Force a Sync for Key Result Integrations:
- From the My Objectives Page, click the Kebab icon in the upper right-hand corner.
- Select Sync Integration Data.
Change Salesforce Instances
After logging into a Salesforce Instance for a report, you may need to change to another one for different KR data. To do so, select Change above the Report dropdown.
