In WorkBoard, when a Key Result is due for update, you can Ping a Key Result to nudge the updater provide an update. With Mass Ping, you can now drive accountability at scale!
Mass Ping allows you to quickly notify a team, multiple teams, or even the whole org to update their Key Results.
This guide covers how to access, configure, and send Mass Pings.
Accessing Mass Ping
Mass Ping is only available to users with Governance rights.
- From the Governance Page: If you have Governance access, go to Governance and select Mass Ping from the left-hand menu.
Creating a Mass Ping
When you send a Mass Ping, you have options for what teams receive it, and what the notification looks like.
Once you select a scope, the Mass Ping will notify updaters of user-updated Key results that are Due for Update or Overdue.
Setup steps:
- Choose Who to Notify
- Entire Organization – Notifies all active, non-hidden teams.
- Specific Teams (if enabled) – Manually select teams to include.
- Sub-organizations – Select managers, and all teams under them will be included (coming soon!)
- Customize Your Message
- Subject line – Defaults to “Update requested” (you can edit this).
- Message body – Defaults to “You have been pinged for an update.” (editable).
- Sending a Mass Ping
- Review Recipients – A live count shows the number of KRs and users included. Review this to make sure it looks correct for the selected scope.
- Click Send – The ping is sent immediately. A confirmation message appears.
- Avoid Duplicate Sends – The Send button is disabled until you update filters or refresh the page — this is by design to prevent accidental “double-pings”
Receiving a Mass Ping
- Key Results within the selected scope that are overdue or due for an update, will receive a Ping as part of the Mass Ping.
- Users receive pings via Email, Slack, or Teams, based on their notification preferences.
- The ping is sent to KR Updaters.
